Maps

http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/eap/wsb/wsb_Lakes.html -Wolcott's two volume book 'Lakes of Washington' is available as a series of PDF files listed under 14a and 14b on the above page. This great reference is no longer in print, and copies are hard to come by, especially Volume 2 on Eastern Washington. The scanned version of both volumes is from the state Department of Ecology. They are large files, so you will want a fast connection to download them.

GIS (Geographical Information Systems) applications:

King County

Snohomish County

Most counties have GIS (Geographical Information Systems) applications that they use for everything from land use planning to EIS impacts. The public GIS viewer applications offer a number of features in terms of turning on/off data layers so you can show what is relevant to you. The ones that are most useful are the hydrologic layers for streams and lakes, the plat maps to determine public and private ownership and the aerial photographs. Here are two applications for King and Snohomish counties.
